I want to decorate my room with brighter colors, how?

Ok i just left my fiancee and i need to start this new chapter in my life. i purchased beautiful dark cherry wood furniture and decorated with dark towels dark bed spread and light walls. i moved into a loft and left everything with him. i want to decorate with lighter colors. i do not want pastel colors. i like the brighter greens and yellows(not really into pink). i like the colors of puerto rico and what not. like bright blues, orang, yellow, and green. what shoudl i do?
