Cant find the cd changer in my 98 vw new beetle?

I have a 98 VW New Beetle. The manual says the cd changer is in the luggage dept. Im guessing thats the trunk. Ive searched everywhere. I have the Serial Number and everything so I know I have one. Can someone tell me exactly where to find it????
