Fable 3: why did my wife die on castle grounds?

my wife died somewhere in bowerstone castle, not sure where. i tought it was a safe place to keep my family, now i'm afraid to move my new wife there because i dont want her to suffer the same fate. where is the threat? can a wife just randomly die?
